Facility / Gate Guard
Position Summary: The Facility Guard is responsible for ensuring the protection of persons, property, and equipment at the assigned facility/location. The Facility Guard will safely and effectively monitor the traffic in and out of the assigned facility/location by performing the duties outlined in this job description.

Essential Responsibilities:
Monitoring – Remains alert for the presence of unauthorized persons and/or safety and security policy violator; patrols assigned area as necessary on foot to ensure personnel, area, building and/or equipment security; performs periodic checks of emergency call boxes and/or street lights to ensure proper functioning; reports all malfunctioning as required
Policing – Approaches suspicious person(s) with caution and care and/or notifies authorities (internal to company or police, depending upon appropriate response based upon sound judgment); watches for irregularities, such as security breaches, facility/area and safety hazards, and emergency situations; contacts appropriate company personnel and/or emergency responders (police, fire, and/or ambulance personnel, as required); informs and warns violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles
Record-keeping – Prepares routine, standardized reports and/or completes standardized forms and/or photocopies necessary identification as required by company standard operating procedure
Safety, Sanitation, Security – Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area. Assist in maintaining the security of the facility/warehouse/location. Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety. Comply with OSHA, SDS, and Port City Logistics Safety Standards.

Education High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
Knowledge
Knowledge of the geography of the site to which assigned
Knowledge of portable fire extinguishers and their locations

Math Moderate – Ability to count accurately, do simple math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division), write legibly, read numbers, and correctly complete mathematical problems in situations that require a mathematical resolution (e.g. inventory discrepancy)

Training This position requires satisfactory completion of New Hire Safety Training provided by the employer
