Comprehensive Logistics Services & FAQs

PortCity offers a comprehensive suite of logistics services, built around speed, reliability, and efficiency at the Port of Savannah and beyond. This document provides answers to common questions across five core areas: Fleet Services (including bonded, HazMat, and overweight drayage), Warehousing Services (with food-grade, bonded, and FTZ capabilities), Transload Services (for efficient cargo transfer), Freight Management (for end-to-end logistics support), and Yard Storage (providing secure, scalable space near the port). Our operations are driven by a commitment to safety, advanced technology, and tailored, customer-centric partnership.

Fleet Services FAQs

PortCity’s fleet is equipped to handle bonded, overweight, hazardous, and food-grade freight. We also manage out-of-gauge cargo and export containers, giving customers flexibility for a full range of import and export needs.

We can typically onboard and begin moving freight within days, depending on the scope of work and required compliance documentation. Our in-house implementation and dispatch teams streamline the process for a fast and efficient start.

PortCity uses real-time telematics to monitor driver behavior, idle time, and route efficiency. This technology allows us to lower overall fuel spend, reduce emissions, and deliver consistent, on-time performance.

Yes. PortCity is actively expanding our alternative-fuel fleet, including our first electric dray truck operating at the Port of Savannah. Sustainability is built into our operations to ensure cleaner, more efficient port moves.

Our dedicated fleet, positioned near the Port of Savannah, includes hundreds of chassis and a private pool of equipment. We maintain flexible capacity to support both steady-state volumes and surge periods.

Yes. We continually identify match-back and street-turn opportunities to reduce empty miles, lower emissions, and deliver cost savings for customers.

Safety is central to our fleet operations. Drivers adhere to strict compliance and training standards covering HazMat, load securement, and hours-of-service protocols. Every load is monitored through our dispatch and KPI tracking system.

Rates are determined by lane, container type, and accessorial requirements. Our team provides transparent rate sheets that reflect market conditions and operational efficiency.

Warehouse Services FAQs

PortCity provides food-grade, bonded, and Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) warehouse space. Our facilities support transload, cross-dock, and value-added services including labeling, pick/pack, and inventory management.

Yes. Our WMS (Warehouse Management System) provides real-time visibility into inventory, orders, and activity. Integrated with Power BI, it delivers advanced analytics for smarter supply chain decision-making. In certain cases, we are also able to implement and use client provided WMS.

Every shipment is safeguarded through our Load-Proof photo and video documentation system. This captures each stage of the loading process—providing verified visual proof that protects against claims and ensures accountability.

Yes. Our temperature-controlled zones maintain spaces below 80°F to prevent product degradation and condensation (“sweating”), keeping materials stable and compliant with food-grade standards.

Absolutely. Our bonded and FTZ designations allow customers to defer duties and taxes, optimize international flows, and store goods under secure, compliant conditions.

All inbound and outbound appointments are scheduled through our WMS and coordinated by our operations team to ensure fast, efficient turn times and on-time deliveries.

Our warehousing is designed around flexibility and partnership. We tailor storage solutions, reporting, and visibility to meet each customer’s operational goals—not just standard processes.

Transload Services FAQs

Transloading involves transferring cargo between transportation modes—like container to trailer—to streamline logistics. PortCity’s transload team specializes in fast, accurate handling to keep freight moving efficiently.

We handle full-pallet, food-grade, and industrial materials as well as out-of-gauge cargo. Our team is trained to manage specialized, heavy, or high-value loads safely.

Yes. Our bonded and FTZ certifications allow transloading under customs supervision, helping customers defer duties and simplify international trade.

Transloads are performed within our secure warehouse facilities and adjacent yard space—allowing fast transfer between container and over-the-road transport.

Depending on cargo type and mode, transloads can often be completed within hours of arrival, minimizing dwell time and port congestion.

Yes. Our food-grade certified facilities and trained personnel handle transloads for perishable and packaged goods with strict cleanliness and compliance standards.

Yes. Our WMS and TMS platforms integrate with customer systems for real-time visibility into transload activity, inventory status, and delivery tracking.

Transloading is central to PortCity’s logistics model—it connects our fleet, warehouse, and yard operations to deliver faster, more flexible supply chain solutions for our customers.
